In 2005 my dad was given a devastating cancer diagnosis. We began seeking holistic, alternative treatment to compliment his traditional care. It is then that I began to understand the practice of yoga as more than a way to keep the body strong. I began to see yoga as a tool for healing. Since that time, yoga has infiltrated my life. When I myself needed the healing, yoga was there to heal. When I was running marathons, biking, and playing soccer, yoga brought me rest and cross training. When I was raising daughters and driving across country for their events, yoga brought me patience and peace. In 2014, I ended a lengthy career in education and bought the studio I had been practicing at, Muskegon Yoga Center. It has been a wild, beautiful journey. I quickly realized that the practice truly is lifelong and I began teacher training in the summer of 2015 with Hilaire Lockwood In 2014 I began my study of yoga at Muskegon Yoga Center. It immediately resonated with me and in 2015 I completed my RYT 200 level yoga teacher training with Hilaire Lockwood and am currently working on my RYT 500 Level Advanced Teacher Training. Hilaire inspired me, pushed me to my limits, and taught me that yoga is so much more than asana. I continue to take every opportunity I can to learn more about this beautiful practice and share it with everyone.
